SBEC was founded in 1998 by Dennis Baucom and Gary Shaffer. Barry Stamp joined the firm soon thereafter. Shaffer • Baucom Engineering & Consulting (SBEC) was founded to provide superior engineering and consulting services to institutional, industrial and commercial clients. The Principals – Dennis Baucom, Gary Shaffer and Barry Stamp – have more than 75 years of combined experience in providing mechanical
engineering consulting services.

SBEC is a full service Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Design Firm specializing in LEED® compliant design and documentation, sustainable design, master planning, systems analysis, forensics, and the design of healthcare facilities, research laboratories, higher education facilities, K-12 facilities, aerospace and defense facilities, bio-hazardous facilities, central utility plants and pharmaceutical production plants.

Since 1998 the firm has grown steadily and today has nearly 25 employees. The SBEC organization consists of a highly qualified and motivated team of mechanical and electrical engineers, designers, construction administration specialists, CAD operators, and support staff.  More than 80% of our engineers are LEED® Accredited Professionals.
