Parkview Medical Center
Laminar Flow O.R.
Pueblo, Colorado

Date: 2005
Cost: $1,000,000
Area: 1,200 GSF

SBEC performed as prime consultant on this project and arranged for architectural and structural engineering sub-consultant services.

The project entailed the addition of two new rooftop air handlers on the roof directly above the O.R. suites. Structural beams were added in order to provide the necessary structural support. The design and construction was phased to allow one room to stay in operation while the other room was being renovated, and the project was completed on schedule and within budget.

Some of the design features included:

Medical gas systems;
Variable frequency drives;
Building Automation System and DDC controls;
Interior Lighting Design;
Fire suppression system;
Surgical booms connection and data interface;
Laminar flow ceiling with fluorescent lights included; and
Life safety power distribution.
