The Littleton Hospital project consisted
of the design and construction of a new 8-story, high-rise 150-bed full service hospital.
Dennis Baucom, the Lead Mechanical Engineer, was responsible for the design of the following systems necessary to support the facility:
Redundant 500 BHP duel fuel steam boilers;
Stand-alone power plant with underground full-size man-way pipe tunnel;
500-ton centrifugal chilled water plant;
Primary-secondary hot water heating and chilled water systems;
Underground fuel oil storage and distribution system;
VAV & CV air handling systems;
Laminar airflow, HEPA air filtration and humidification for all O.R., LDRP and ICU areas;
Steam system serving humidifiers, kitchen equipment and autoclaves;
Stairwell pressurization and smoke control;
Kitchen grease hood and dishwasher exhaust systems;
DDC temperature controls;
High and low pressure domestic water systems; and
Acid waste and neutralization system
750 GPM fire pump.
The design also featured a DI pure water system, pre-action systems and dry system and Medical Gas Systems: Nitrogen, Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide, Vacuum, and Medical Air.
