Clean Room
Monument, Colorado
Date: 2006
Cost: $650,000
Area: 1,970 GSF
Project consisted of an Class 10,000 (ISO 7) clean room and adjacent
Class 100,000 (ISO 8) clean room. A Class 100,000 (ISO 8) gowning room
was built inside of the biomedical manufacturer’s facility. The
design provided for an outdoor custom packaged HVAC unit with DX cooling,
electric reheat, outdoor air intake and two-stage pre-filtration to
provide the required airflow. Each room was designed to incorporate
dynamic room pressure control to insure the correct pressure relationship
is maintained. Low wall returns were used throughout for improved airflow
patterns and maintaining the cleanliness of the space.
Other services included an overhead ceiling electrical power raceway
grid system for flexibility and clean dry compressed air (CDA) connections
for equipment hook-up, and an electric steam generator using RO water
from the building RO system provides the humidification. SBEC provided
airflow modeling animations to the client so they could identify where
they wanted the airflow to be placed within the space and minimize
dead zones or “dirty” areas.
