First LEED Certified Silver hospital in the nation.

SBEC designed the new hospital campus which included a Central Utility Plant and full-size man-way tunnel for piping utilities.

The piping utilities in the tunnel included 8” 75 PSIG high-pressure steam supply, 4” steam condensate, 12” chilled water, 5” medical vacuum, 2” oxygen, 1” nitrous oxide, 1-1/2” medical air service, fire protection service and main electrical feeders.

Piping distribution system included approximately 3,500 feet of piping.

The project also included underground direct bury piping for the snowmelt piping system distribution, as well as double fuel oil piping.

Expansion joints, guides and anchors were used to control pipe thermal expansion.
